The National Payment Card System (NSCP) and Sber plan to combine payment services using biometrics. This was reported in the press service of NSPK with reference to the words of the director of the operational and technology department Maxim Krukelis, it writes TASS.
The project is expected to be completed in the second half of 2025. The statement also stated that SBER and the National Payment Card System have started working to combine their services.
Sber will be connected to the NSPK biopurchase as both the acquiring bank and the issuing bank. This is a very important step towards the development of biometrics as a payment method,” emphasized Krukelis.
In turn, Dmitry Malykh, senior vice president of Sberbank and head of the transaction banking block, told reporters that experts have already completed the development of a “road map” for the project.
According to him, after the launch of the unified service, the bank’s customers will have the opportunity to pay for purchases using biometrics, including in other financial institutions. To do this, citizens will need to set up biometric payments by selecting the appropriate account in the mobile application of a particular bank.
In addition, Malykh did not rule out the emergence of a new system similar to the QR code. We are talking about a platform that will offer various banking options to users after pressing the “Pay with a smile” button.
