The European Union’s refusal to supply Russian natural gas in exchange for liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States threatens the EU’s energy security. This was reported by Greek Deputy Minister of Defense Yiannis Kefalogiannis. TASS.
The official noted that the new American administration will encourage LNG exports to Europe and use these supplies as a means of pressure on the EU. The refusal of European countries to accept natural gas from Russia in exchange for American LNG will lead to the European Union becoming dependent on a single supplier. Therefore, for greater sustainability, the European Union is trying to gradually abandon the use of only natural gas, setting itself the goal of switching almost half to “green” electricity by 2040.
