Almost one in five Russians (19%) spend less than 1 thousand rubles a month on the care of their pets. This is evidenced by data from the Banki.ru study, the results of which were reviewed by socialbites.ca.
Half of the respondents spend from 1 to 5 thousand rubles a month on pets. 14 percent said that their expenses for pets ranged from 5 to 10 thousand rubles per month.
Only 4 percent of respondents are willing to spend more than 10 thousand rubles on their pets every month, while 12 percent of their owners admitted that they do not keep track of these expenses.
At the same time, spending on pets increased last year for 49% of respondents. 31% of respondents did not notice any change in their care costs, and another 4% started spending less.
Most often, Russians keep cats at home; 77% of the survey participants have cats. Dogs came in second (44%). Next come the less common animals by a large margin: birds, rodents, fish and reptiles.
