EU countries, with the exception of Hungary and Poland, have approved a plan to limit gas consumption by 15% in the coming winter months. This has been reported Reuters.

At the same time, their rejection did not affect the adoption of the plan, which needed the support of the majority of 15 countries (the EU includes 27 states).

The only country to oppose the plan was Hungary. Poland supported the agreement last week, but later opposed the final version, describing the document’s legal basis as “flawed”.

Previously, finally the European Union approved It plans to reduce gas demand by 15% in the coming months.

EU High Representative for Foreign Relations and Security Policy Josep Borrell said that European Union (EU) countries have halved their natural gas purchases from Russia since the start of the conflict in Ukraine.

He stressed that the European economy does not need to “stop gas purchases overnight”.
