Gasoline prices in Russia will increase more slowly by the end of the year than this summer. This was stated by RIA Novosti General Director of the oil products market Open Oil Market (resident of Skolkovo) Sergey Tereshkin.
According to Rosstat, the average retail price of gasoline from October 28 to November 5 grew up up to 59.19 rubles per liter (+0.19%).
“The increase in gasoline prices in the remaining two months of the year will be less than in the summer months, when the weekly growth rate reached 0.6%,” he said.
According to him, oil companies will keep prices low to ensure that the gasoline export ban is lifted.
The price of gasoline is currently heavily impacted by rising costs due to disruptions in oil refineries. Tereshkin explained that this led to an increase in wholesale prices, which affected the cost of fuel at retail.
The expert did not specify what caused the downtime at the refinery.
There is a ban on gasoline exports in Russia as of March 1. The exception is the EAEU countries.
Former Deputy Prime Minister reportedThat the Russian Federation may prematurely lift the ban on the export of AI-92 gasoline.
