As of October 2024, red caviar prices in Russia have increased by 25% compared to last year and may increase by another 10% by the New Year. In our conversation with the following person on this subject: “Izvestia” said Alexander Panin, President of the Fisheries Union. He stated that the main reason for the increase in prices was the lack of catch and increased demand due to an unsuccessful season.
Currently, last year’s caviar is offered for sale at a price of 5-6 thousand rubles per kilogram, limiting the sharp rise in prices. But new season caviar, such as pink salmon, is already sold at a price of more than 7 thousand rubles per kilogram.
Deputy Chairman of the Fisheries Association Alexander Fomin noted that, according to his own data, red caviar prices have increased at least one and a half times and this process continues. Product shortages are becoming increasingly apparent, and last year’s catch stocks are almost exhausted.
Experts interviewed by the publication warn that prices may increase further by the end of the year due to high demand before the holidays.
Previously reportedIt was stated that Russia will limit red caviar exports to two regions.
