Russian President’s Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that the cancellation of the agreement on grain supply between Egypt and Ukraine is not related to the African trip of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. He told this to reporters.
“This has little to do with Lavrov’s visit, we have our own relations with Egypt and we have our own contracts with Egypt for relevant supplies fulfilled by Russia,” he said.
Earlier, Reuters, citing sources declarationEgypt terminated the contracts for the purchase of 240 thousand tons of wheat from Ukraine in December 2021. The publication states that Egypt’s General Directorate of Goods Supply (GASC) has “released” supply companies Nibulon and Inerco from their contractual obligations.
The agency claims that the Egyptian government purchased grain in December 2021 at prices ranging from $346 to $360 per tonne. The cargoes booked due to the conflict in Ukraine were not delivered.
Prior to that, Ukraine’s Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov announced that Ukraine’s export level has returned to 30% of the level before the special operation.
