UN Deputy Secretary General: First ship with Ukrainian grain will be able to leave port on 29 July

UN Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Martin Griffiths said during a briefing that the first Ukrainian ship carrying grain could leave on 29 July. This has been reported TASS.

“We hope and plan that the first ship [с украинским зерном — «Газета.Ru»] may leave in the coming days. I hope it happens tomorrow <...> Inspections will be carried out at a Turkish port for ships going to Ukrainian ports. “It’s easier to do it this way to make sure these ships are free of contraband and weapons,” Griffiths said.

The UN Deputy Secretary-General added that agreements on the export of grain from Ukraine also provide for the transport of fertilizers.

It was previously reported that Egypt terminated the contracts for the purchase of 240 thousand tons of wheat from Ukraine in December 2021.
