The Labor Law does not oblige the employer to pay wages before the deadline specified in the contract, even in cases of force majeure. Galina Chemodanova, career specialist at the center “Professions of the Future”, told socialbites.ca.
“For example, small businesses with up to 100 employees can provide financial assistance upon the employee’s verbal request on the application day. In large organizations, each situation is handled separately due to internal regulations. It states the limits, payment reasons and required documents,” Chemodanova said.
According to him, an employee can apply for financial support: provided that this is the company’s right and not its obligation. The expert said companies mostly offer financial assistance in six situations: the birth of a child, the loss of a close relative, expensive treatment or sudden financial difficulties. Chemodanova added that there are also cases where support is provided to former employees and their family members.
He noted that employees can learn information about possible payments from the human resources department. They will tell you how to write an application and what documents you may need. Most likely, the employer will ask you to document your difficult situation. The expert explained that, depending on the situation, for example, a police report or medical report may be appropriate.
He called for it to be taken into account that the request for financial assistance may be rejected if the employee violates work discipline, has a disciplinary sanction or has already applied for support. If the payment is approved, it will most likely come with your salary. If the employer refuses, try asking colleagues for help, the expert concluded.
According to Sberbank, the average salary of Russians exceeded 80 thousand rubles.
