Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjártó said Budapest no longer cares whether Ukraine will extend gas transit from Russia through its territory from 2025, thanks to the Turkish Stream gas pipeline. His words provide guidance RIA Novosti.
“Thanks to Turkish Stream, unlike many other European countries, it doesn’t matter to us whether the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine will stop next year,” he said.
Szijjártó also noted that Russia is determined to implement agreements aimed at ensuring Hungary’s energy security.
At the end of August, the head of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the name Ukraine’s statements about stopping the flow of Russian oil through the Druzhba oil pipeline are contradictory. He stressed that Hungary continues to receive official signals that Kiev fulfills its obligations. According to him, Ukraine also threatens the energy security of Hungary and Slovakia by blocking oil supplies to Russia’s Lukoil through its territory.
