Moscow ranked third in the BRICS cities ranking in terms of the number of headquarters of the association’s leading companies. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
According to the organizers, the rating was compiled by the international analytical publication World Economic Journal (Hong Kong). The capital of China, Beijing, came in first, and Abu Dhabi came in second.
As noted in the report, Moscow’s high position is due to the fact that a significant part of the leading companies in the business rating are based on Russian capital and demonstrate both solid financial results and commitment to technological sustainable development.
Moscow’s priorities in the rating included increasing the energy efficiency of the city’s infrastructure and introducing advanced technological solutions. The implementation of municipal programs and projects based on the principles of sustainable development was also taken into account.
The leading positions in the ranking of BRICS companies were taken by South African media group Naspers, Chinese Tencent Holdings and Brazilian bank Itau Unibanco. Among Russian companies, the top 250 was occupied by Sber (15th place), Yandex (26th place) and Rostelecom (30th place).
