The average cost of going to restaurants and bars in major cities of the Russian Federation increased by 11%. This was reported by RBC Citing data from the Check Index resource, which analyzes the spending of Russians in more than 16 million cities.
According to the data, last year a trip to a restaurant cost 2.3 thousand rubles, while by the summer of 2024 this figure increased to 2.5 thousand rubles. At the same time, Russians began to visit such establishments more actively: the average number of purchases made in them in June-August increased by 7% compared to 2023.
Analysts found that despite the decrease in shopping in large cities, spending increased even more. So, in St. Petersburg, the average bill reached 7 thousand rubles, and in Moscow – 4 thousand rubles. At the same time, the number of orders decreased by 4% and 3%, respectively.
The head of the Walker noodle chain project, Anton Krasulin, explained that Russians are not ordering more food, but food is becoming more expensive. This is due to increased operating costs amid inflation, an increase in the key interest rate, higher logistics prices and the lengthening of raw material supply chains.
