Elvira Sakhipzadovna, you said that additional regulation is needed. Can’t it be closed completely?” – Matvienko addressed the head of the Central Bank of Russia Nabiullina.
Nabiullina responded to the proposal of the Federation Council Speaker that officially registered organizations do not have the right to issue loans above a certain level, charge interest and impose penalties. Nabiullina explained that all the so-called microcredit organizations that violate these levels and limits are actually scammers, that is, illegal lenders.
According to the head of the Central Bank, if microfinance institutions are banned in principle, illegal lenders will remain in the shadows.
