Rosatom’s electric power division is currently developing technologies in the field of increasing fuel combustion efficiency at used facilities, the state company noted.
The electric power department’s expenditures on environmental protection amounted to 6.2 billion rubles, an increase of 27% compared to 2022.
In Rosatom’s fuel division, electricity consumption was reduced by 3.9% and heat energy consumption by 11.7% in 2023.
Rosatom’s mechanical engineering division also reduces pollutant and greenhouse gas emissions and increases energy savings, the state corporation added.
Thus, greenhouse gas emissions decreased by 15.8 thousand tons of CO2 equivalent, and pollutant emissions into the atmosphere decreased by 2.6 tons. Wastewater volume decreased by 44.6 thousand cubic meters.
The mechanical engineering department’s expenses for environmental protection in 2023 amounted to 486 million rubles, increasing by 59% compared to the previous year.
