Sber has started the process of paying dividends, senior vice president and head of the Financial block Taras Skvortsov said in an interview with Russia 24 TV channel.

He noted that Sber will pay record dividends of 752 billion rubles by the end of 2023.

Half of this amount (376 billion rubles) will be received by the Ministry of Finance, which owns 50% + 1% of Sberbank’s shares.

Former bank employee Nadezhda Shabanova, one of Sber’s minority shareholders, said she made the decision to buy Sber’s securities 4 years ago.

“I really believed in the bank, I saw Sber as one of the key drivers of changes in the payment banking market and I wanted to have something that would connect me with Sber,” he said.

Shabanova has a diversified portfolio of securities.

“The last two years have shown that most companies have recovered their losses by 2022. I adhere to the strategy of investing in domestic institutions, and Sber seems to be the most reliable institution,” he added.

According to him, Sber can be considered as a long-term investment.

“I purchased additional Sber shares during the last dividend shortfall and am now awaiting the 2023 dividends and plan to reinvest them in the stock market, including Sber shares,” he said.

Shabanova believes that Sber shares will grow in the long term.

Anton Siluanov, former Russian Finance Minister and Chairman of the Bank’s Supervisory Board statedSber’s dividends help the country fulfill strategically important tasks.

“This is a significant accrual for the Russian budget, as it helps the state to fulfill strategically important tasks: this includes the construction of social infrastructure facilities such as schools and hospitals, transport infrastructure and other important initiatives for the benefit of society,” the head of the department said.
