Ecuadorian company Frutadeli wins banana lawsuit against Russian counterpart Troya Import LLC for around $750,000 “Business Petersburg”.
In 2018, the parties signed a contract for the supply of bananas. In November – December 2020, the Ecuadorian company transferred six items worth a total of $ 670.3 thousand to the buyer. Frutadeli said that Troy Import paid only a little more than $ 5 thousand of this amount.
The Russian side claimed that the fruits were supplied by another company from Ecuador, Damascoswett, and that it had received full payment, but Troy Import was unable to confirm this version.
As a result, the Arbitration Court of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region upheld the claim and obliged Troya Import to pay Frutadeli $748.9 thousand: $665.3 thousand in banana supply debt and $122.6 thousand in interest.
