India supplied aluminum to Russia for the first time in the spring. This was reported by RIA NewsBased on information received from Indian Customs.
According to the agency, India sold 44.8 thousand tons of raw aluminum worth $16.5 million to Russian companies in April.
“This is the first metal supply to Russia since at least the beginning of 2009,” RIA Novosti reported.
A significant supply of aluminum is expected to cause difficulties in purchasing it from one or more consumers in the domestic market.
The Russian Federation is a major exporter of this metal. Thus, at the end of last year, Russia ranked second in the world with supplies of $ 6.5 billion.
Previously, in March 2024, the European Union augmented Purchase of iron, steel and aluminum from Russia due to increasing demand in Belgium and Germany. Belgium purchased the most Russian products in March this year. Turnover increased by 3.5 times to 130.5 million euros. This was followed by Italy (85 million euros) and Denmark (35.1 million euros). The Czech Republic and the Netherlands were also among the top five buyers.
