India to increase electricity production to record level 13:16

India aims to increase electricity generation by 15.4 GW by the end of fiscal year 2024-2025. This has been a record annual figure for almost 10 years, he writes Business Standard.

This goal is planned to be achieved by commissioning new coal power plants. A new coal-fired power plant with a capacity of 28.5 GW is currently being built in India.

Additionally, several more coal power plants with a total capacity of 50 GW are expected to emerge in the country by 2027. India expects to increase its coal-fired capacity by 90 GW by 2032.

By the beginning of the next decade, more than half (54%) of India’s electricity generation is projected to come from coal.

Before reportedThat coal has become 1.5 times more expensive for the European Union after the implementation of anti-Russian sanctions. Thus, the average price of a ton of energy will be 184 euros in 2024 and 120 euros in 2021.

Previously the largest buyers of Russian coal sharply reduced its import.
