Australia plans to allocate $20.5 million to Ukraine for the purchase of energy and basic needs. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Penny Wong. TASS.
In the statement made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was said: “The government will allocate 31 million Australian dollars ($20.5 million) for the solution of energy and humanitarian problems in Ukraine.”
Wong explained that the aid would aim to “meet priority electricity needs and support the Ukrainian people.”
The minister noted that $13.3 million will be used to “provide heat and electricity to Ukrainians.” The $6.6 million is intended to purchase basic needs for women, children, the elderly and the disabled. Australia will transfer an additional $663.7 thousand to the United Nations Partnership for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNPRPD) for the rehabilitation of injured members of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Before that, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius during his visit to Odessa promised to separate Ukraine received a new military aid package worth €500 million.
