Russia’s withdrawal from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Trade Organization (WTO), which some experts have recently called for, will only harm the Russian side. This was reported to the agency hit liner Alexander Daniltsev, Director of the Trade Policy Institute of the Higher School of Economics of the National Research University.
The expert noted that although Russia “is not dominant”, leaving the IMF would be inappropriate due to the fact that it would limit its opportunities to become a full participant in this system.
He did not rule out that in the future, new cooperation tools will be created in the monetary and financial fields, for example within the framework of BRICS. Then members of the association will be able to gain significant influence and membership will be an important tool.
Daniltsev also emphasized that the mechanisms of multilateral economic organizations such as the IMF and WTO are used by most countries, and that these mechanisms are necessary for Russia’s cooperation with neutral countries, despite the efforts of the United States to undermine the authority and capabilities of such structures. . Moreover, such organizations are a vital element in supporting the idea of a multipolar world.
The director of the Trade Policy Institute at the National Research University’s Higher School of Economics warns that an exit from supranational structures will undermine Moscow’s overall capabilities in the global economy and lead to increased isolation.
Previously at WTO stated Increasing the share of BRICS in the world economy.
