While the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that there would be a 12 percent increase in Schengen visa prices, it was emphasized that this decision was approved by the European Commission.
At the beginning of February, it was announced in Brussels that the prices would be revised, but an exact date for the increase was not given. The increase in visa fees is associated with rising inflation rates in the European Union. The last time the EU increased visa fees was February 2020, when the application cost increased from 60 euros to 80 euros.
