Oppression Financial Times He reported that China’s industrial espionage poses a growing threat to Western companies. This was stated by US FBI Director Christopher Wray and British MI5 head of counterintelligence Ken McCallum. They held a joint press conference in London.
“The Chinese government poses a greater threat to Western business than many sophisticated entrepreneurs realize,” the US official said.
According to Rei, Beijing is using the SPAC (special purpose purchasing company) mechanism to steal commercial information from Western companies through industrial espionage.
SPAC is a specialized, targeted merger and acquisition company created and traded by investors. By merging with SPAC, the company goes public, but at the same time spends minimal funds on trading on the exchange.
The FBI believes that Chinese using SPAC investors have gained access to the trade secrets of Western companies that interest them.
Previously, the Chinese government suggested citizens of the country are rewarded with special certificates of up to 100 thousand yuan (almost 900 thousand rubles) if they report cases of “foreign spies” or possible “breach of state security”.
The need for such awards in the ministry dealing with this issue was justified by the recent increasing case of “threats to the national security of the country”.
It was noted that the measures developed will “contribute to the full mobilization of public enthusiasm” for “support and assistance in the work of ensuring national security, broad unity of heart, morale, intellect and strength of the people”.
