Italy announces more than tenfold increase in supplies of one type from Russia 05:49

A group of European Parliament (EP) members from the renewed European party said that there was a 1164 percent increase in the import of Durum wheat from Russia to Italy during the year. This was reported by “lenta.ru”.

In their speech to the European Commission, parliamentarians emphasized that since the beginning of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the EU has adopted 13 sanctions packages containing restrictive measures on goods previously imported from the Russian Federation. The total amount was 91.2 billion Euros.

The document emphasizes that some Russian goods have managed to bypass the restrictions and enter the EU market because they are not on the list of prohibited goods. For example, Durum wheat, which continues to enter the European market, especially through Italy.

Parliamentarians claim that the increase in wheat imports from Russia by 1164 percent starting from 2023 negatively affects Italian producers.
