Banks in Kyrgyzstan stopped serving Russian Mir cards 15:06

All banks in Kyrgyzstan have stopped servicing Russian Mir cards to avoid secondary sanctions. Kyrgyz reported this Interbank Transaction Center (IPC).

MPC noted that on February 23, 2024, OFAC, a division of the US Treasury Department responsible for the control of foreign assets, imposed sanctions against Mir Payment System’s card operator, JSC National Payment Card System (JSC NSPK).

“In order to minimize the risk of secondary sanctions, CJSC Interbank Transaction Center (CJSC MPC), which is the guarantor of the uninterrupted operation of the national payment system Elkart, informs about the termination of relations with JSC NSPK from April 5, 2024.” The message says description.

Starting from April 3, from 12:00 Bishkek time, card service on acquiring devices, that is, non-cash payments at POS terminals and cash withdrawals from ATMs, as well as card-to-card transfers and Internet payments will no longer be available. .

April 2, Kazakhstan Halyk Bank stopped Service to Mir cards.
