Ozon started to warn its customers that customs duty must be paid on orders from abroad with a value over 200 euros. This was reported by RIA News.
According to the rules of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the threshold for duty-free imports of goods by individuals from April 1 of this year decreased From 1 thousand euros to 200 euros (about 19,900 rubles at the Central Bank exchange rate). This applies to goods carried by the carrier by all means of transport except by mail, baggage, air or on foot.
On the Ozon website, an additional line appeared on product cards with a price exceeding €200, containing the customs payment amount not included in the price. The fee varies between €2 per kilogram of excess weight or 15% of the amount exceeding the value limit. If both limits are exceeded, the larger indicator is taken for calculation.
Customs payment also includes a customs broker’s commission and a customs fee of 500 rubles. As stated on the Ozon website, once the shipment reaches customs or a few days before, a broker will contact the buyer to arrange payment of the tax.
