Helsinki authorities are ready to start the process of nationalizing the Helsinki Hall arena, owned by Russian businessmen. A Finnish newspaper wrote about this Helsingin Sanomat with reference to their own sources.
“The city’s leading politicians will meet on Thursday morning for a special meeting of the city council to discuss the situation. According to Helsingin Sanomat, the process to purchase the arena is expected to be initiated at the meeting to be held on Thursday.”
The authors of the article claim that this measure preceded the expropriation, during which the authorities of the Finnish capital would announce their intention to purchase the Helsinki Hall to the Russian owners.
Before this, a voluntary sales agreement was expected. It was supposed to take place on February 28, but was postponed indefinitely for unknown reasons.
As a result, Helsinki authorities determined the period within which the Russian owners of the arena must sell the facility. As reported, the deadline is approaching, which means that the authorities will start the expropriation process.
Former German Chancellor Olaf Scholz statedThat the EU’s seizure of revenues from blocked Russian assets is in accordance with international law.
Before that in the Kremlin commented Brussels’ statements that the income from Russian assets does not belong to anyone.
