Rosneft has completed the preparatory phase of a comprehensive forest climate project in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, which will contribute to reducing Vostok Oil’s carbon footprint and absorb greenhouse gases equivalent to 10 million tons of CO2. This was reported by the company’s press service.
Rosneft reported that over the past 5 years, employees of the company’s enterprises have planted more than 27 million saplings and tree saplings. The company also emphasized that the forest climate project is not just about planting saplings, but also about creating and developing a new ecosystem services area.
The company announced the creation of a new field of activity, from in-depth scientific research to the development of legal frameworks and methodologies for the implementation and evaluation of forest climate projects.
The project aims to develop the capabilities and strengthen the potential of forest climate projects in Russia, creating business conditions that will help increase the flow of investment in this area.
