Most Russians cannot build a house with their own money

The overwhelming majority of Russians surveyed (83%) cannot buy or build a house without borrowing. This follows from a survey conducted by the construction company “Dachny Season”, the results of which are available on socialbites.ca.

Only 17% of survey respondents buy a house without taking out a loan. 40 percent take out a mortgage, 32 percent take out a consumer loan, and 11 percent borrow from relatives and friends.

The most important reason for applying for a mortgage to build a country house is the desire of consumers (41%) to spread payments evenly over a long period of time. To a lesser extent, mortgage loans are considered due to lack of sufficient cash (32%). 27% of respondents stated that they took out a concessional mortgage if possible.

At the same time, the majority of respondents (31%) choose between an apartment and real estate outside the city, considering a home on earth to be a place of strength and harmony. Another 17% see a country house as an alternative for a holiday. Consumers look less at the cost per square meter – only 12% of respondents say that the price per square meter is more attractive when building a country house. 11% choose it due to the availability of more space compared to an apartment, and 9% choose it because of the flexibility in the use of space (the ability to change the architecture, appearance and functionality). Another 7% point out the importance of having a garden area and being close to nature. Only 5% choose a house, thinking that investing in it is better than investing in an apartment. The least popular answers were confidence in the quality of construction materials and availability of parking space (4% each).

At the same time, the majority of respondents (41%) are ready to spend from 1 to 3 million rubles for the construction of a country house or cottage, 25% – from 3 to 5 million rubles, 17% – from 5 to 10 million rubles. Amounts over 10 million rubles. We identified only 14%. And 3% of those surveyed never thought about the cost of their own land outside the city.
