Analysts raise Singapore’s GDP forecast due to Taylor Swift concerts

Analysts raised their forecast for Singapore’s GDP growth in the first quarter to 2.9%. He writes that one of the reasons for this optimism is Taylor Swift’s concert tour Bloomberg.

The American singer will give six concerts between March 2-9 as part of the Singapore leg of her The Eras tour. DBS Bank economist Chua Han Teng estimates the performances will add about $225-300 million to the Asian country’s economy, or 0.2% of GDP.

The expert explained that this flow of funds was due to the large number of foreign tourists coming to Swift’s concerts. Singapore is the only Southeast Asian country included in the Eras tour.

Taylor Swift will give 151 concerts in total as part of the tour. The first shows will take place in March 2023, and the last shows will take place in December 2024.
