Russians’ income from business activities amounted to 6 trillion rubles in 2023; this implies an increase of 32% in nominal terms (almost 1.5 trillion rubles) and almost 25% in real terms (adjusted for inflation) by 2022; Statistics coming from Rosstat. This was reported by RBCWith reference to the calculations of Svetlana Misikhin, Deputy Director of the Development Center of the Higher School of Economics of the National Research University.
At the end of last year, the share of business income in the total monetary income of citizens was 6.8%; this was the highest figure since 2014 (then it was 7%). The share of entrepreneurial income is estimated to be 5.7% at the end of 2021 and 2022.
Last year, the total cash income of Russians amounted to 88.3 trillion rubles. 59% of these are employee wages, 19.5% are social benefits, and 10.3% are other cash income. The second category includes remittances, lottery winnings, recycling revenues, and other income. Property income (we’re talking income from financial assets – dividends, deposit interest, securities payments) fell 41% in real terms last year. Their share fell from 7.8 percent to 4.4 percent in 2022. Last year, income from property was higher than business income.
