More than 20 percent of Russian borrowers consider their debt burden to be high, but consider it normal to pay at least 50 percent of their salaries to repay their loans. This is stated in a study by the online lending service “Robot Zaimer” (available from socialbites.ca).

During the survey, service analysts asked to take into account the average debt burden if half of the salary is spent on loans.

20.6% of those surveyed stated that their debt burden was high. More than half of the borrowers (51.5%) evaluate the credit burden as average, while 22% state that the credit burden is low. The other 5.9% had difficulty estimating this indicator for various reasons: they do not have open credit, their income is irregular or they have dependents.

50.1% of respondents believe that loan payments should not exceed a quarter of their salary. For 21.8%, this level is one-third of the salary. But almost the same number of Russians (20.2%) are ready to give more than half of their income to pay off their obligations. Finally, only 5.1% of respondents agree to spend 80% or more of their income on loan repayment.

The study was carried out by surveying subscribers of the official community “Zaymer” on VKontakte at the end of February 2024. More than 1,000 people responded.
