OpenAI (developer of chatbot ChatGPT) says it ‘strongly disagrees’ with entrepreneur Elon Musk’s claim Bloomberg referring to the note.
According to the agency, OpenAI chief strategy officer Jason Kwon rejected Musk’s claims that OpenAI is a de facto subsidiary of Microsoft. In his opinion, the reason for the lawsuit may be the entrepreneur’s regret about not participating in the company’s work at the moment.
In the note, OpenAI founder and CEO Sam Altman called Musk “my hero” and said he missed him. Kwon stated that the company’s mission is to ensure “AGI benefits all humanity.” He emphasized that OpenAI competes directly with Microsoft.

The entrepreneur claims that OpenAI has shifted its mission to create artificial intelligence (AI) for the public good and has begun to pursue commercial goals, particularly by partnering with Microsoft.
OpenAI was founded as a non-profit organization in 2015 with the goal of developing powerful, open-source artificial intelligence (AGI) that is accessible to everyone and poses no threat to humanity. One of the founding partners of the company was Musk, who left the board of directors in 2018. After OpenAI announced the creation of a commercial division and signed a $1 billion deal with Microsoft, Microsoft gained exclusive access to the OpenAI cloud platform and products.
