A total of six gas carriers were built for the project. Three ships ordered by Sovcomflot structures last week were placed under restriction. The delivery of three more LNG tankers for Arctic LNG 2, built for Japan’s Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) operation in South Korea, has been postponed due to labor shortages. Gas carriers were promised to be delivered in 2024. Meanwhile, sources claim that one of the LNG tankers will still be ready for operation in March.
Arctic LNG 2 itself is also under sanction. This means MOL cannot hire third-party gas carriers for this.
Before that, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak statedIt was stated that the first batch of gas coming from the Arctic LNG-2 project facility could be sent to consumers in February.
