The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) filed a lawsuit against Yandex for distributing inappropriate advertising. In this respect reported in the press service of the department.

According to FAS, a citizen contacted them to complain about the advertisement of the organization “Work 5”, which offers essay, term paper and thesis writing services. The ad appeared in the Yandex search engine.

The Ministry clarified that advertising services in educational institutions aimed at preparing for studies to pass state scientific certification or exams are prohibited by law.

As a result, the FAS filed a lawsuit against Yandex and the advertiser Work 5 for violations of the Advertising Act. It was stated that if a violation is detected, the organizations will be held administratively responsible.

Before this the court fine President of Yandex for showing films with LGBT people (the International LGBT Social Movement is considered extremist and banned in the Russian Federation) without the “18+” sign. Representatives of the director general at the court hearing expressed disagreement with the ministry’s conclusions because, in their opinion, Roskomnadzor did not prove that tapes containing prohibited information could be viewed by minors.
