Ruble exchange rate reacted to Putin’s interview with Carlson

According to data from the Moscow Stock Exchange, the ruble exchange rate showed growth at the opening of foreign exchange trading on Friday. The drive was an interview between American journalist Tucker Carlson and Russian President Vladimir Putin, broadcast on the morning of February 9.

The dollar rate immediately dropped to 90.54 rubles (-0.39%), and the euro to 97.36 rubles (-0.56%).

However, during trading, the Russian currency began to show a moderate decline. At 09:35 Moscow time, the dollar was worth 91.04 rubles (+0.22%), while the euro was trading at 98.2 rubles (-0.06%).

According to presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov, Putin agreed to an interview with this journalist because his position was different from others – “not pro-Russian, not pro-Ukrainian, but more pro-American.”
