Fuel market participants, St. He appealed to regulatory authorities, complaining about the sharp increase in the use of trading bots when purchasing fuel from the St. Petersburg International Commodity Exchange (SPIMEX). This was reported by Interfax.
According to Evgeniy Arkusha, head of the Russian Fuel Association, bots buy up almost entire batches and prevent real buyers from purchasing fuel on the exchange.
As a result, they are forced to purchase petroleum products from dealers at higher prices. An example is given of a situation where a gas station chain was unable to buy gasoline from the exchange from January 12 to January 24.
SPIMEX noted that they constantly monitor participants’ trading behavior. If violations are detected, measures up to and including banning the transaction are applied.
The agency noted that previously Deputy Prime Minister Novak instructed the FAS and the exchange to strengthen control over unscrupulous participants using trading bots.
Before that in the USA accused bot traders on increases in oil prices.
