Study: More than 500,000 people took courses for entrepreneurs

The main target audience of the courses for entrepreneurs are representatives of existing enterprises, legal entities, individual entrepreneurs and self-employed, in the second place schoolchildren and students, followed by employees. These are the data of a large-scale study carried out by Sberbank, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Financial Literacy Development Association, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the National Research University Higher School of Economics, with the participation of other institutions. .

The educational experience of about 1200 companies and organizations from all regions of Russia was studied. Together, they have organized more than 4,000 unique courses for business representatives and potential entrepreneurs through their “My Business” regional centers and other infrastructure organizations to support small and medium businesses. More than half a million people have studied in these programs since 2019.

“Entrepreneurship education is one of the factors that influence the opening of a business and has a significant positive impact on the results of an existing business. Sber welcomes any initiative in this direction. I would like to note that the bank is an active participant in the education market for entrepreneurs. We have been running the BusinessClass program for a long time, which helps start-ups and existing entrepreneurs acquire the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to develop their business, Anatoly Popov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Sberbank.

The Russian indicator of the average “education” of the population was nine people per thousand economically active population. At the same time, in 29 constituent entities of the Russian Federation, this indicator was above the average, and in 56 regions it was lower. The study showed that people under the age of 45 (92%) were most active, with 45% of those under 25 years old.

There were 4% more women than men among the trainees (52% vs. 48%). The main reason for this is that courses to develop women’s entrepreneurship are more common. 53% of the trainees have general secondary or vocational education and 47% have higher education.

The main target audience of the courses for entrepreneurs (48.5%) are representatives of existing businesses, legal entities, individual entrepreneurs and self-employed. In second place are schoolchildren and students (25.2%). The share of employees, including those currently working in small and medium-sized businesses and developing their knowledge, and those who just want to start their own business, was 21%. The share of the unemployed and other groups is below 5%.

Detailed results of the study are scheduled to be presented in the third quarter of 2022.
