Imported eggs have already entered the Russian market, said the State Secretary of the Russian Federation, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Viktor Evtukhov. This was reported by RIA News.
According to the official, egg prices have started to fall, but these declines are mostly affected by domestic producers as import volumes are small compared to consumption volumes.
“In our country, 46 billion eggs are now consumed annually, and imports reach millions. Still, it’s good that these materials are available. Imported eggs have already started arriving in stores. They are purchased for foreign currency, the price of which will depend, among other things, on fluctuations in the ruble exchange rate,” Evtukhov explained.
He added that prices in stores may continue to fall.
Before that, the Prime Ministry agency, referring to Rosselkhoznadzor, reportedIt was stated that a total of 60.7 million eggs have been imported to Russia, especially from Turkey, Azerbaijan and Belarus, since the beginning of January this year.
