Under the rules currently in force, it is unclear from what date interest should accrue on unpaid wages. This date was counted from the date of accrual of payments, violators of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation could pay them with a long delay. The courts recognized the workers’ right to receive compensation only, without taking into account the interest provided by law.

The adopted law establishes that if the payments due to the employee are not accrued to him on time, the employer is obliged to pay the employee monetary compensation, and the court recognizes the right to receive them.

In this case, the amount of compensation is calculated from the money that was not actually paid. The calculation is made from the day the money should be paid, if it is accrued on time according to the current legal regulation, until the actual payment day (including this day).

The bill was developed by the Russian government.
