The State Duma Committee on Health Protection recommended banning the sale of non-alcoholic beer to young people. According to the newspaper, MPs prepared a bill that they sent to the government for feedback. “News” with a link to the document.
The document states that the sales ban should only apply to beverages made from beer whose alcohol content does not exceed 0.5%.
On an explanatory note, non-alcoholic beer cannot be considered completely alcohol-free. Additionally, MPs believe that if young people drink non-alcoholic beer, it can become addictive and they may develop alcohol addiction in the future.
The draft also states that sellers should ask customers for their identity and age information at store checkouts. If the person refuses to show this, the drink will not be sold to him.
If the law is passed, such norms should come into force on September 1, 2024. If sellers violate these rules, they will face liability, although what they will face is not specified in the bill. The publication cites as an example that a legal entity selling alcohol to minors faces a maximum fine of 500 thousand rubles.
