In 2023, the volume of cargo transportation along the Northern Sea Route (NSR) amounted to 36.254 million tons, 250 thousand tons above the set target of 36 million tons. In this respect reported On the official website of Rosatom Corporation.

As Rosatom representative Vladimir Panov noted, foreign companies’ interest in NSR is increasing. In particular, the Chinese shipping company NewNew Shipping Line carried out 8 voyages in 2023, transporting approximately 100 thousand tons of cargo in transit along the Northern Sea Route, which was previously impossible for political reasons.

Overall, 250 more sailing permits were issued along the NSR last year compared to 2022. The number of transit flights increased from 47 to 80.
