All three countries of the United Nations (UN) have decided to rely on the development of their own means of payment. This was reported by RIA News with reference to our own analysis.
The agency analyzed statements by officials from 193 UN countries; Representatives of 68 states advocated dedollarization of their economies or stated that they were taking such measures.
It is stated that participants of large regional associations such as ASEAN or BRICS are more active. For example, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva constantly proposes the creation of an alternative currency to the dollar for settlements within the BRICS framework. This is also supported by South African Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana, who advocates lending in national currencies. It is emphasized that calls for de-dollarization are mostly made by politicians in Africa and Latin America.
Mehdi Safari, formerly Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran for Economic Diplomacy statedThat BRICS and SCO should follow the path of de-dollarization and trading in national currencies.
