Norway’s Council of Ministers has decided to allow the country’s companies to sell weapons and other defense products directly to Ukraine’s military units. It is proven by this statement press service state.
“Direct sales of weapons and defense products to Ukraine are allowed as of January 1, 2024,” the statement said.
According to the innovation, Norwegian companies will now be able to apply for an export license from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for direct arms sales to Kiev. The agency will then review the applications one by one to determine whether they meet the mandatory criteria.
Head of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Espen Bart Eide, explained this decision for security reasons and the possible extension of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine.
Norwegian authorities in December I decided to highlight $273 million for the maintenance of schools and the healthcare system in Ukraine and $90.1 million for the production of ammunition and missiles for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
