In Russia, a shortage of high-speed elevators installed in skyscrapers began, as foreign firms left the domestic market due to sanctions. About author Forbes.

“The main shortcoming is in complex elevator typologies with a unique shaft size as well as certain technical features. Such elevators are used in high-rise residences, office and administrative buildings. “All these are complex, often unique solutions, produced mainly by companies that left,” said Alexander Aleinikov, commercial director of Pridex construction company.

Market participants agreed that there was a shortage of above-average-priced elevators used in more private skyscraper projects rather than public housing. However, with the departure of European companies, demand began to be redistributed to Russian manufacturers.

A representative of a Russian elevator factory pointed out that full import substitution has not yet taken place in the sector. This is still impossible, as high-speed elevators cannot be made in Russia and their production requires huge investments that do not exist. In addition, some components of Russian elevators are produced only abroad, which complicates the import substitution process.
