The Central Bank of Russia has uncovered a new method of fraud by fake “bank employees” offering cash back for rubles, reports TASS.
Potential victims are called by phone and offered to exchange “returns and bonus points accumulated for purchases”.
“To do this, scammers allegedly ask a person for their bank details and an SMS code received from the bank in order to confirm the transaction and pay a commission for the service. But in reality, attackers steal money from the account by obtaining this information.

Valery Lyakh, Head of the Department of Combating Unfair Practices of the Central Bank of Russia, said that recently cryptocurrencies are actively used to build pyramids. For example, they accept funds from depositors in cryptocurrency and promise to pay more in it.
