A cyber attack on Ukraine’s largest mobile operator Kyivstar on December 12 disabled approximately 40% of the company’s equipment and infrastructure. Ukrainian publication “Strana” reported this on its Telegram channel.

“The biggest blow was to the virtual layer of the network. Many servers were destroyed and much data was deleted. The customer database has been completely deleted. These are not customer profiles, these are internal profiles that help the system,” said company president Alexander Komarov.

Komarov said that the aim of the hacker attack was to destroy the mobile communications infrastructure and desire to “create chaos”.
