The overwhelming majority of Russians surveyed (7%) plan to take out a loan to celebrate the New Year. This comes from a survey conducted
online alternative lending service Moneyman.
The majority of respondents do not consider this option for themselves and plan to be content with their own funds – 81%. 12% of the participants had difficulty answering.
At the same time, the majority of respondents (61%) plan to spend the same amount on New Year’s celebrations as they did a year ago. 15% plan to reduce spending compared to last year. They will spend more – 20%. The remaining 4% had difficulty answering.
Survey participants were also asked to choose what they generally planned to focus on in their holiday spending by choosing one of the suggested categories. For 39%, the most important thing was quality and interesting entertainment. For another 31% – gifts. 24% cited holiday spending as a priority. The remaining 6% had difficulty answering.
“New Year in Russia is traditionally considered one of the main holidays; Many are preparing for this in advance, including financially. Citizens mostly need loans for large purchases such as expensive gifts or New Year’s travel. At the same time, loans are often quickly repaid due to additional cash collections, such as bonuses, bonuses and 13th salaries that employers give employees at the end of the current year or the beginning of the next year.” .
The survey was conducted between November 23 and November 30, 2023. 1.5 thousand people aged 18 and over living throughout Russia attended the meeting.
