Norilsk Nickel’s Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions were among the lowest in the mining industry compared to world leaders, reaching 9.9 million tonnes CO2-eq. expected 2.2 million tonnes CO2-eq. This is a follow-up to the company’s first published climate change report, considering its emissions.
“The climate agenda remains one of the priorities of our activities in the field of sustainable development. With the publication of a separate thematic report on climate change, Norilsk Nickel reaches a qualitatively new level of disclosure of climate information; which is in line with best international practices,” said Vladimir Zhukov, Vice President for Investor Relations and Sustainable Development.

“This report allows us to explain to all stakeholders as transparently as possible how the company is adapting to climate change and what measures it is taking to reduce its own impact on climate change,” added Zhukov.
According to the report, the capital and operating costs of measures to combat climate change in 2022 amounted to 8.9 billion rubles.
