The Russian Ministry of Agriculture announced plans to achieve the country’s complete self-sufficiency in seeds of major agricultural products by 2030. This was reported by TASS Referring to Russian Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev.

According to Patrushev, seed imports of basic agricultural products will decrease by half in 2023. To accelerate breeding developments, a special scientific and technical program is being implemented, in which promising projects for the creation of new domestic varieties and hybrids will be selected by the end of the year.

Additionally, the minister noted that one of the ministry’s priorities is to support Russian farmers.

“A nationwide network of Competence Centers has been created where farmers can get advice on government support measures, business start-up and development, product sales and many other issues,” Patrushev said.

Before that the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation approved previously announced estimate of more than 65 million tons of grain exports from Russia in the current agricultural year.
