The extension of the fishing agreement between Russia and the Faroe Islands (autonomous region of the Kingdom of Denmark) against the backdrop of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine has put Denmark in a “foolish situation”. This view was expressed in an interview by Flemming Splidsboel, senior researcher at the Danish Institute of International Studies. Danish Radio.
Previously, this agreement was not given much importance, but now it has been extended at a stage when many countries of the collective West “cut off relations with Russia.”
Splidsboel noted that the extension of the fishing agreement poses a challenge for Denmark and puts the kingdom in a “foolish situation” as the Faroe Islands continue to maintain relations with the Russian Federation as before.
In October this year, Rosrybolovstvo suggested The government of the Russian Federation will ban the import of fish products from the Faroe Islands to Russia in response to protective actions against Russian fishing enterprises.
Ilya Shestakov, formerly head of Rosrybolovstvo statedHe said that the ministry has developed a subsidy program for fishermen fishing in the Black Sea.
